It was just after the year 2000 that these two people from Calais met, having long been lulled by the sounds coming out of England and Belgium, such as The Chemical Brothers and Two Many Dj’s. They had taken to crossing borders to party the night away in Belgian clubs and other strange and unexpected places. They had become accustomed to crossing borders, partying the night away at memorable parties in Belgian clubs and other strange and unexpected venues. Twenty years and a few psychedelic trips later, Tepat Huleux and Giac Di Falco, now known as You Man, made their debut on Alpage Records (Lille). They wrote the highly acclaimed track Birdcage and the album Spectrum Of Love.
Attracted by trance, they quickly decided to orient their music towards something that would allow them to change their plane of consciousness, and therefore their dimension. At this point, they release their club track Everybody Feat. Jerge on Boston Bun‘s Circa99’ label.
Soon, they were deepening this intention of crossing music with trance, and suggesting a form of “discoid letting go” capable of taking the mind on a journey. They followed this up with the Tutti Va Bene EP on London label Nein Record, then in 2019 with the fruit of one of their shamanic experiences, the EP boldly named Altered States (on their beloved label Eskimo Recordings, Belgium), in reference to altered states of consciousness.
Crossing Giac’s work on hypnosis and Tepat’s on virtual digital environments (AR/VR), their DJ Sets gradually become tinged with dark, organic disco with a hint of break beat, rock and muscular EBM. Little by little, the duo made their mark on the underground disco scene.
Their eclectic prods and interest in the esoteric combined in the late ’10s to create a sound that was recognizable from the first second of listening, and which is set to become even more popular in 2022 with the release of their next album. Until then, they’ve made their mark with a number of successful remixes (TenSnake, Polo & Pan feat. Channel Tres, Yuksek, Zimmer, French79, Kid Francescoli, …) that have become dancefloor staples. All you have to do is close your eyes, let the vibrations of You Man’s music do the rest, and let your third eye quietly open.
